Diplomatic Leader Emphasises Regional Partnership and Economic Cooperation at Upcoming October Conference
GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – H.E. Liselle Blankendal, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Suriname to Guyana, has expressed strong support for the International Business Conference Guyana 2025, scheduled for October 14-16, 2025. Her endorsement underscores the critical importance of regional economic collaboration and strategic partnerships in the Caribbean and South American markets.
"I must say that events like IBC also are very important for countries like Suriname but also Guyana, especially now as we are growing and changing so quickly," Ambassador Blankendal stated. "They give us a chance. The International Business Conferences give us a chance to come together to share ideas with government officials, business leaders, but also with investors who are together in one place to share ideas and to explore new and different opportunities."
Ambassador Blankendal highlighted the natural synergies between Suriname and Guyana, particularly in key economic sectors. "I must say that both countries have many existing opportunities to work together. First of all, in the area of energy, both countries discovered oil and gas and this gives great opportunity to work together to benefit from both sides," she explained.
She further elaborated on agricultural cooperation, stating, "I think agriculture, for example, our countries are rich with fertile land, which makes it strong; a strong regional partner to provide regional food security so that we can be the bread basket of the Caribbean region."
Speaking directly to potential investors and conference delegates, Ambassador Blankendal delivered a compelling message: "I would say to investors, the time is now. What are you waiting for? Especially if you're looking for growth opportunities and strategies, look no further than Guyana. We are very rich in natural resources, but more importantly, we're rich in potential and vision and the will to grow together."
She emphasised Guyana's strategic advantages, noting, "We are living in a historic moment and that's important. And also with our strategic location with access to CARICOM and South American markets, we offer a powerful gateway into the region and what sets us apart is how we do business through partnerships that are inclusive, sustainable and truly a win-win."
The Ambassador concluded with an invitation to the international business community: "Whether you're in the field of oil, energy, agriculture, technology, tourism, infrastructure. This is the right place to be and the right time actually to invest. So we welcome you with open arms and we're ready to work to create prosperity not just in Guyana, but for the entire region. If you want to see what Guyana has to offer at the International Business Conference, I encourage you to be there to be part of the conversation, to share ideas and of course network."
The International Business Conference Guyana 2025 promises to be a pivotal gathering for regional economic development, with Ambassador Blankendal's participation highlighting the commitment to "strong partnerships coming out of what we are doing between businesses, better infrastructure and of course shared path towards greater regional prosperity."
