International Business Conference opens with plan to strengthen collaboration and innovation

The 3rd International Business Conference (IBC) opened today with the aim of strengthening collaboration and innovation while sharing success in the business world.

As Guyana harnesses its vast natural resources to fast track development, the International Business Conference is seen as an important platform to guide sustainable capital towards key sectors and business opportunities.

Chairman of the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce, Dr Vishnu Doerga, said the International Business Conference has set a target of facilitating more than one thousand Business to Business (B2B) meetings, and at least ten large scale deals in principle.

“We do want a thousand Business to Business meetings to happen at this particular conference. In  previous conferences we hit four hundred, then five hundred respectively, and this time we created a lot more space,” he said.

Dr Doerga said the conference is a platform for businesses across the region to network, and create long term partnerships.

He also noted that the Private Sector is critical to the country’s economic growth, and the same can be said about Government policies that influence the business climate.

“Policy stability, efficient institutions and modern infrastructure provide the runway. The Private Sector must provide the lift. To both presidents and their respective governments, thank you for our continued commitment for strengthening the relationship between our nations – that signal gives confidence to investors, lenders and most importantly, our young people, who deserve to build their future here at home and across this corridor that is increasingly a single market in every way,” Dr Doerga said.

The three day conference is being held under the theme “Bridging Businesses for Regional Prosperity.”

Over the three days of the conference, there will be more than 125 speakers with some 800 delegates and more than 2000 participants in attendance.

The event is being hosted at the Guyana Marriott Hotel.
