New Agro-Industrial Hub Targets Export-Ready Production

Guyana is advancing plans to establish a large-scale industrial, manufacturing, and agro-processing hub designed to elevate small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) into export-ready producers. The facility, to be built at Yarrowkabra along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway, is part of a national strategy to expand the country’s non-oil economy through value-added food production and international market integration.

The hub will feature fully outfitted production shells, enabling businesses to operate in a standards-compliant environment from inception. This infrastructure is expected to streamline access to global markets by embedding food safety, packaging, and export-readiness protocols directly into the operating model. Support services will include regulatory compliance assistance, financing facilitation, and access to international trade networks.

A strategic partnership with Bloomberg Grains will provide technical guidance and market access support. The collaboration will assist Guyanese producers in meeting international quality standards, adopting modern agro-processing technologies, and connecting with regional value chains across Brazil and the wider Caribbean.

The initiative is being developed alongside the newly commissioned World Trade Centre Georgetown, which will function as a trade facilitation platform. The centre will support the hub’s enterprises with investor outreach, trade promotion, and global branding.

This multi-tiered approach aims to create an integrated export ecosystem for Guyanese agribusinesses, with potential impact on food security, rural development, and regional supply chain resilience. By focusing on industrial infrastructure and strategic trade partnerships, Guyana is positioning itself as a competitive agro-industrial player within CARICOM and beyond.
