Trilateral Trade Mission Targets Regional Growth

News Room Guyana

More than 27 companies from Suriname, Trinidad and Guyana are participating in a trilateral trade mission launched in Georgetown, aimed at deepening commercial ties and exploring new investment opportunities across the region. The initiative is jointly organised by the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) and the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA).

The mission seeks to advance goals aligned with the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME) framework by addressing trade barriers, strengthening regional supply chains, and facilitating market access for participating firms. Sectors represented include manufacturing, logistics, energy, health, beauty, and consumer goods.

With Guyana’s rapidly expanding economy creating sustained demand across multiple industries, the event serves as a platform for business development and regional trade expansion. Participants are engaging in B2B meetings, sector-specific sessions, and market familiarization activities.

Key stakeholders emphasized the potential to increase intra-CARICOM trade, currently estimated at just 13–15% of total trade by building stronger inter-regional logistics infrastructure and harmonizing standards. Notably, plans to introduce a ferry system connecting Guyana, Trinidad and Barbados were highlighted as a solution to persistent logistics constraints.

The SGCC and TTMA see the mission as a step toward more unified economic growth and greater private sector collaboration, offering long-term value for companies seeking regional expansion and diversification.
