Ambassador of Suriname to Guyana

Ambassador Liselle Blankendal, a Surinamese national was born on June 25th, 1984. She is currently Suriname’s Ambassador accredited to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana who assumed office on April 5th 2022. She is also accredited as non – resident Ambassador to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Ambassador Blankendal attended the Anton de Kom University where she earned her Bacherlor’s degree in Public Administration with specialization in International Relations and a Master’s degree in Public Administration with specialization in Governance from the F.H.R. Lim A Po Institute for Social Studies.

She joined the Foreign Service of Suriname as a career diplomat in 2012 and prior to that she joined the Ministry of Education in 2004 as a teacher. Her Foreign Service knowledge and experience within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs including her academic background are providing a suitable platform to help coordinate and formulate regional and international foreign policy.

She also has a strong passion to give back to the community by helping the less fortunate hence from a young age she has joined the Rotary fraternity.

She is a strong believer that diplomats must have two (2) main objectives:
- To serve their country
- To serve their people

As Ambassador, she endeavors to work to facilitate dialogue and cooperation among governments, businesses, and stakeholders to unlock the full potential of our economic partnerships and create shared prosperity for our citizens. She is fully committed to advancing the interests of Suriname and deepening its partnership with Guyana for the benefit of both nations and peoples.
